Apple TV; Apple think again

The announcement of Apple recently of the Apple TV sent wave across the Net especially for Personable Television Recorder (PVR) enthusiasts. The euphoria was caused not by the merit of the product but for the person introducing the product. Since it was Steve Job introducing the products it must be great; because in the past when Steve Job introduced a product everyone listens. This time around the excitement still holds true except for the Apple TV.

Just after the announcement of the Apple TV the enthusiasts soon find out that it was nothing more than a device to connect ITunes to the TV. The needed support was simply not there. No support for various standards that forms the cornerstone of digital videos today such as DivX, Vob, Xvid and many more. Another thing that was missing with Apple TV was the fact that you cannot record or timeshift with it. There is no way to record you TV show and do all the cool stuff that a TiVo can do.

Without the support for these format, apples TV will only be interesting to people who are not familiar with digital video files. Perhaps, Apple hope to make some changes on the product before it hits the market. We will find out soon.
